Planning new outdoor experiences is intimidating and overwhelming. If you want to explore a new place, it requires hours of research. Try a new outdoor sport? You better know someone or have the time to endure hours of trial and error, research, and frustration.
Most people don't, which is why we built Kaptain. We have curated activity data across 33 outdoor sports and activities and built planning tools to make research, organizing with friends, and dreaming about your next outdoor experience fun and easy.
Outdoor gear is vital to a positive experience outside, which is why we have Gear garage. Add your gear to Kaptain, easily add it to packing lists, and track which adventures your gear joined you on.
We have featured local outdoor shops to make it easier to find the right gear and shop local.
Schedule activities - Simplify the planning process of your next outdoor experience by scheduling it on Kaptain. Invite friends, create packing lists, and know exactly where to meet up. The best part is that you want to plan out activities you want to do, you can label them as "ideas", so you can save them for when you are ready to get outside.
Build trips - Start planning your next epic adventure, all on Kaptain! Select as many locations as you want, multiple sports, and multiple activities. Coordinate on your packing lists and add your gear. And don't forget you don't need to add dates if you aren't ready to commit to a time frame. Label your trip as an idea to make brainstorming easy.
Create collections - put together your bucket lists and favorite activities to share with friends.
Gear garage - Easily add your gear to quickly add to packing lists in your scheduled activities and trips. It's also a great place to store notes on your gear and send to your friends, so they know what you have.
We put this all together on Kaptain to give outdoorsy people a place to dream about their next epic adventure, show off all their outdoor experiences, and inspire others to do the same.

- Our map has been updated throughout Kaptain, so you can see more trail info, such as the name of each trail.
- We have added places search, so you can search for places across Kaptain. You can also filter your search results to only see certain categories or sports.
- In scheduled activities or trips, you can now multi-select your gear, so you can add all your gear to your packing list at once.
- Category and sport filters in Explore now save, even after you close the app.
- You can now use Kaptain in airplane mode or poor cell service.
- You can select google maps, apple maps, or Uber when selecting directions
- We now have a vertical view for all photo sections
